What is the SilverSneakers Fitness Program?

SilverSneakers is a fun, energizing program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events.

Unlock the door to greater independence and a healthier life with SilverSneakers. Health plans around the country offer our award-winning program to people who are eligible for Medicare or to group retirees. SilverSneakers provides a fitness center membership to any participating location across the country.

 

This great benefit includes: 

  • access to conditioning classes, exercise equipment, and other available amenities

  • customized SilverSneakers classes designed exclusively for older adults who want to improve their strength, flexibility, balance and endurance

  • member-only access to online support that can help you lose weight, quit smoking or reduce your stress

Class Schedule & Description: 

Monday: 9:30am. Classic (1-hour beginner class) This workout includes fall prevention drills and exercises to improve strength and endurance. The chair, handheld weights, tube, and ball are included in this workout.

Tuesday: 9:30am. Boom (30-minute advanced class) A higher intensity dance class that improves cardio-endurance and burns calories. MOVE is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. This class focuses on cardio endurance by starting with simple dance moves and building into more complex sequences, bringing a great cardio workout.

Wednesday: 9:30am. Yoga Stretch (1-hour advanced class) This workout utilizes chair and standing poses to increase flexibility, strength, and breathing awareness. Small weights are sometimes used to increase endurance and toning.

Thursday: 9:30am. Classic (1-hour beginner class) This workout includes fall prevention drills and exercises to improve strength and endurance. The chair, handheld weights, tube, and ball are included in this workout.

Friday: 9:30am. Cardio Circuit (1-hour intermediate) This standing class alternates upper-body strength work with low-impact cardio to maximize fitness benefits. Elevate your heart rate with low impact aerobic movements and progressive intensity options. A chair, handheld weights, and balls are usually utilized.
